Southbound

We passed the equator recently. A few kilometres out of Nanyuki the group stopped for a photo op. The remainder of the tour is in the southern hemisphere. In general, we follow the Rift Valley to Tanzania and to Malawi where we will head westbound through Zambia. A tailwind would be very helpful and the prevailing winds apparently come from the east so our hope is for conventional weather.

Tomorrow, we will camp on the border with Tanzania. It is a market community called Namanga whence we will submit our passports and receive visas to carry on to Arusha. That will mark the halfway point of the tour's 96 stages. I will visit the Kilimanjaro Centre for Community Ophthalmology on behalf of SEVA. Please support this blindness prevention work. Cheers. I will definitely report on the work and send images of the important, sight-restoring surgeries done there.
